Hal Fry collection 1849-1999

This collection consists of a manuscript of "Print It!" 150 Years of the Akron Beacon Journal, scattered Akron Beacon Journal company newsletters and staff directories, 1976-1994, including a commemorative booklet celebrating the newspaper's 150th anniversary; a Society of Professional Journalists commemorative booklet honoring John S. Knight; a photocopy of the diary of Horace Canfield, an employee of the newspaper during the 1850s and 1860s; and miscellaneous personal papers.

Hal Fry was an editorial writer and newsroom editor for the Akron Beacon Journal for 34 years until his retirement in 1983. During his retirement he continued to edit books and wrote "Print It!" 150 Years of the Akron Beacon Journal in commemoration of the newspaper's 150th anniversary in 1989.
